That will be a sign that God is moving ahead. God intends to move ahead of his people & extinguish all the forces of the enemy. The prerequisite for accessing any of Gods benevolent acts of grace is going to be faith & obedience. So though God intends to outsmart the enemy through you here on earth it will take faith & obedience. David is expressing his faith and obedience to God by hiding in some trees and attacking his enemy which may very well be a fantastic strategy in war but David still has to put his reliance on the master and that’s what God is interested in because He is God hallelujah.
